Wedding FAQ

What is your filming style?
At Digital Memories Event Videography, our approach is primarily photojournalistic. This means we focus on capturing your wedding day as it naturally unfolds, without constantly interrupting or staging moments.
We believe the most meaningful wedding films come from real emotions, candid moments, and authentic interactions. Our goal is to document your day in a way that lets you relive it exactly as it happened.

Do you stage or direct a lot of moments?
Very rarely. Our style is about observing rather than directing.
While we may occasionally offer guidance if needed, most of the time we are quietly capturing the day as it happens. This allows you and your guests to enjoy the celebration without feeling like you're on a movie set.

How do you work with the photographer?
We pride ourselves on having excellent relationships with photographers.
We understand that the photographer typically leads the timeline for portraits and formal photos, and we are very comfortable working around them and supporting their workflow. Our goal is to ensure the photographer can do their job while we capture beautiful video at the same time.
Because of this approach, photographers often tell couples that we are one of the easiest videography teams to work with.

Will you get in the way of the photographer?
Not at all.
Our philosophy is simple: great teamwork creates the best results for our couples. We coordinate positioning and timing so that both photo and video are captured without interfering with each other.
This collaborative approach helps everything run smoothly and keeps the focus on you.

How long does it take to receive our wedding film?
One thing that sets Digital Memories Event Videography apart is our fast turnaround time.
Your finished wedding film is typically delivered within 2–3 months after your wedding. We know how excited couples are to relive their day, so we work hard to complete editing as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.

Can we choose the music used in our wedding film?
Yes! We actually encourage couples to select their own song choices.
Music is a huge part of the emotional impact of your film, so we want it to reflect your taste and your relationship. You can provide song suggestions or specific tracks you’d like included, and we will incorporate them into the editing process.

Do you travel for weddings?
Yes. While we are based in Oakland, New Jersey, we regularly film weddings throughout New Jersey, New York, and the surrounding areas.
If your wedding is outside this region, feel free to reach out — we’re always happy to discuss travel.

How do we book Digital Memories Event Videography?
Booking is simple. Once you reach out and confirm availability, we’ll send you a contract and booking information to secure your wedding date.
Since we take on a limited number of weddings each year to maintain quality and fast turnaround times, we recommend booking as early as possible.

How many hours of coverage do we need?
Most couples choose coverage that begins during getting ready and continues through the main reception events such as the first dance, speeches, and cake cutting.
Every wedding timeline is different, so we help couples choose coverage that ensures the most important parts of their day are fully documented.

Do you film the ceremony and speeches in full?
Yes. We capture the entire ceremony and key reception moments, including speeches, first dances, and other important events.
These moments are preserved so you can hear the vows, laughter, and heartfelt words exactly as they happened.

How long is the final wedding film?
The length of the final edited film can vary depending on the package and the events of the day.
Most couples receive a beautifully edited highlight film that tells the story of the day, along with full recordings of important moments like the ceremony and speeches.

Do you use professional audio equipment?
Absolutely. Clear audio is one of the most important parts of a wedding film.
We use professional microphones and audio recording equipment to capture vows, officiant audio, and speeches so the most meaningful moments can be heard clearly.

Do you use multiple cameras?
Yes. Using multiple cameras allows us to capture different angles of important moments, especially during the ceremony and reception.
This helps create a more cinematic and complete final film.

Have you worked at our venue before?
We have filmed weddings at many venues throughout New Jersey and the surrounding area.
Even if your venue is new to us, we always arrive prepared and take time to learn the layout and lighting conditions to ensure everything is captured beautifully.

Do you offer drone footage?
When permitted by the venue and weather conditions, drone footage can be included to capture beautiful aerial views of the venue and surroundings.
Drone use always follows FAA regulations and venue rules.

How do you stay unobtrusive during the wedding?
Our photojournalistic style means we focus on blending into the background and capturing real moments naturally.
We use professional equipment and thoughtful positioning so we can film important moments without being distracting to you or your guests.

What happens if something goes wrong or equipment fails?
We always come prepared with backup cameras, audio equipment, and memory cards.
Professional redundancy is a standard part of our workflow to ensure your wedding memories are protected.

When should we book our wedding videographer?
Most couples book their videographer 9–18 months before the wedding, especially for popular dates.
Since Digital Memories Event Videography accepts a limited number of weddings each year to maintain quality and fast turnaround times, we recommend booking as soon as your date and venue are confirmed.

Why should we hire a wedding videographer?
Photos capture moments, but video captures the experience — the vows, the laughter, the speeches, and the emotions of the day.
Your wedding film allows you to hear the voices, see the movement, and relive the atmosphere of your wedding in a way that photos alone simply can’t.
